What a fine sampler this is : astonishing, diverse, deep and very enjoyable selection of well known classics and more obscure tunes. In this time of the year (not too many great records get released in January / February) i found time to listen to some records i never really checked out proper. Like this french sampler from 1997 . Bought second hand for nearly nothing i never gave this more than a superficial listen. Now i find myself listening to this CD since two days. A very rewarding experience. Starts with Warp sounds by Sabres Of Paradise & Autechre turning to the excellent french Motorbass to the fantastic Derrick Carter Remix of Chez Damier's mighty "Close" ; stopping over in the UK again with P.A.S. "The Return" and SLAM's "Positive Education", (indeed one of Techno's best anthems) and finaly moving back to France via "Wake Up" by Laurent Garnier. A 70 minute glimpse in the universe of european Techno from 92-95. A fine reminder what a powerful impact electronic music used to have .
