On this, you will get some of the best Eurohouse of the time and some of the worst. Let's start with what appears to me as the good stuff: I always really liked "Crazy World" by 2nd Nature (2). It was my favorite track for a while back then. It's nicely mixed and there are many different sections, just enough to say it's different from a lot of Euro releases of that period. Fourteen 14 is also giving a good track, with 2 different musical hooks (which is rare in Eurodance it seems). Of course the lyrics are naive, corny, and the commercial issue is evident (there is a little "Playahitty" soundalike bit in the middle of the song), but I still like it. I believe the Black & White track "Do You Know" (available on CD 1) was made by the same team.
Netzwerk is doing great with "Passion". The melody is nice and it's all sung by Simone Jackson (no rap). X-Static is giving into a more Housey vibe with "I'm Standing", just like Olga and the scandalous "I'm A Bitch".
The bad stuff: There are a lot of tracks on this with unconvincing melodies, bad vocals and redundant / sexist thematics (but, hey, I guess that's what Euro is all about most of the time). For example, the "2 Hands" cover of the vulgar "Short Dick Man" by Gillette, and two tracks by the "Outhere Brothers" to compensate. Sabrina will make your ears bleed with the Red Nex/ country inspired "Rockawillie". The cover of "7 Seconds" by Lovers is the worst track on this compilation, with approximative lyrics reconstitution (especially the French bit originally sung by Youssou N'Dour). Horrible and repulsive.
