Well, nearly 17 years have passed since Def Jam put out their first single, and this limited edition box set was celebrating 10 years, and well done to them too. Artists like LL Cool J and Beastie Boys were rocketing the label up the charts, some more underground acts such as EMPD were releasing fresh beats and rhymes. Favourites that stick out is Pete Rock's remix of Shut 'em down, which is quite chilled out. Others include LL's I can't live without my radio and Bestie Boys' Brass Monkey. Well worth getting if you want to hear how hip hop has changed in 10 years.
