Compiled by Guy Chambers who is most noted for his pop work with Robbie Williams (Millennium, Angels, No Regrets, Let Me Entertain You etc) but also for his production work with Kylie Minogue, Brian McFadden, Delta Goodrem, INXS, Natasha Bedingfield and Beverley McKnight.
Thus, one can see that he is unashamedly a pop producer. Yet he has produced an album that includes Jazzdance/Jazzy Deep House/Tech House and chillout! I wonder how much of a hand he had in compiling it?! If he did compile it, then kudos to him.
Some great tunes on here namely the Deep House/Breakbeat of Bluekey and Demusphere and the chillout of Won't Set Me Free by Alien Funk Love.
As a whole, it's not a bad compilation by GQ at all but it's far from essential. Nevertheless, it's certainly much better than the nondescript compilations that most mags of its ilk tend to put out.
However, this compilation could have been much better if Mr Chambers had chosen not to sequence/mix it. Very ill-advised indeed. For example, the mix between Window Shopping and Won't Set Me Free is so bad that it would make even so called dj's like Sonique and Boy George blush with absolute embarrassment!!
Therefore 2.5 out of 5 is a fair score for this cd.
