Except for "Ecstasy Club" all tracks were made by the Belgian Rat Pack from the late '80: Maurice Engelen, Ro Maron, Nikkie Van Lierop, Frank De Wulf, Olivier Pieters, Marc Grouls, Chris Inger & co. These people were the driving force behind the underground new beat scene in Antwerp, Ghent and Brussels. This compilation is once again another highlight in the history of a music style that died (sadly enough) prematurely: New Beat, A Musical Phenomenon...

I bought this album on the merit of including Acid Rock. Lo and behold, it turned out to be a wise purchase because the tracks on this are outstanding. For those of you who love electronic body music or industrial (I mean real industrial music, not the guitar speed metal that it mutated into), such as Front 242 or Nitzer Ebb, you will love this. It's the perfect transition from EBM to early 90s techno. Shame that this album seems to be so rare. It really deserves to be re-released. Note that the CD contains the full versions of the tracks, and not the three minute edits found on the vinyl.

If you like New Beat or Acid House, you need this record. Almost every track on here is a stormer, and they are all dark & acidic, with none of the fluffy pop tracks included on so many other compilations of the New Beat era. Some are a little dated, but I still find myself playing this out in modern techno sets now and again. It's a shame they are all edited to 3 minutes, though...
