This curious release on Heavenly Recordings in 1996 certainly has some dated tracks by today’s standards and it’s title, judging by the picture - High In A Basement - must be a play on words, that said there are some classic tracks with Rump Funk’s (Fusion Mix) and Jazz The Sea Turtle on this mixed compilation, which from the time, clearly gives you an idea of the shape of underground dance music to come. The Dawn (The DIY Golden Section Mix) does it for me though. It's a weirdly mixed compilation with simple fades between most of the tracks, by someone i've no doubt high in a basement somewhere in Camden. Generally though, this compilation gets better from beginning to end, but i wonder how it'll sound after the next 10 years.
