I grew up in the 'second wave' of Detroit techno. I have always been disapointed that there has been a some sort of disconnect between the music of Detroit, and what was happening across the river in Ontario/Toronto/London(Canada).

Richie Hawtin is, of course, give Detroit props. But the rest of the Canadian (I would argue 'Ontario' sound) is often disregarded. The fact is, these two party scenes were essentially one, and the sounds of the various +8 affiliates received huge play time at Detroit parties.

In reality, there were periods of months (many months), when because of police action, the entire Detroit scene was in fact hosted in Ontario. Some of the best 'Detroit' partys happened in the warehouses and fields of Ontario Canada.

This CD, in particular the 'For your head' mix would give you an excellent insight into the sounds that were coming from Eastern Canada at the time. Wonderful, warm, analog, thoughful tracks that acted as a more cerebral accent to the funk of Detroit techno.

It is well worth pursuing a copy if you are into 90-94 Detroit techno.
