Following the uprising of gothic metal in the Netherlands, the mainstream media tapped in with this sampler, advertising it on TV as well. The subtitle, "The Best Of Gothic Rock", is completely wrong, as the music on this release falls in the realms of metal; gothic, power and doom. This release enforced the general public that this kind of music, and especially the more famous bands (WT, AF, NW) are indeed plainly 'gothic' (sans 'metal'). A grand misconception, that continues to this very day.
