Raphael Marionneau does a great job selecting some very easy listening tracks. Nothing here will raise your heart rate, but if anything, will lower it as you relax to an hours worth of downtempo. Even though the tracks are great, and the order fits well, there is a huge mistake with this album. At the beginning of track 1, and in between tracks 6,7 and 11,12, Raphael inserted a sample of somebody saying “le café abstrait” as if they were whispering in your ear, from 2cm away. It’s almost unbearable to hear when reaching a state of relaxation. The voice is not a plus at all.

The first track on here, But Momma from Fila Brazillia should be the role model for all downtempo beats, but sadly the voice speaking at the beginning makes you just want to skip to the next track, right off the get go. I personally love the older Fila Brazillia tunes, so it saddens me to see a great track ruined by a sound clip that was added for effect.

Overall, a great compilation hurt by some weird voice samples.
