The first change was the Magik logo. My guess is Black Hole didn't have permission to use the logo (they obviously took from the cardgame Magic "The Gathering").
The second change was the complete cd book (a few years later). They had to change it when the Magik series became too well known (outside of the Netherlands). The maker of the original artwork (Patrick Woodroffe) found out about it's existance and once again (only guessing here) Black Hole didn't have the proper permissions to use his artwork.
Anyway, the original artwork features an elve on the front.
