Reviews & Discussion

Rated 3/5

A few not so interesting tracks aside this is a very interesting full-on release. On the downside, Electro Sphere's and BLT's tracks doesn't really rock my psychedelic boat. The former is some sort of minimal full-on and the latter proto typical full-on. Also Exaile falls through, though they got a great sample going: "In a few moments you will have an experience which will seem completely real". Mkay ... the bass DOES seem really boring!

The rest of the tracks, however, ranges from okay to smashing :o) !

Nes vs. Mr. Peculiar and their "Graffiti" is my favourite, a full-on tune but with a great melodic part and a dark edge forcing you to go deep. Awesome dancer! Evil Drug Lords' Resonance follows this line of thought. Dark full-on with a vibe and long repetitious sections. When you gotta work with full-on like this, it is so rewarding! Closing track Have A Good One by Zen Mechanics closes the album in style, though being a track more building up than delivering, it might have suited better as an opener.

Finally, Rinkadink enters with his trademark full-on, i.e. full of ideas, energy, and different sections, all with personality. This South African dude is the guy to watch!

With the less interesting tracks this baby feather lightly touches the 3/5 stars bar, but the rocking ones here easily makes up for the purchase!

Beats & Pieces Records is a label based in Israel. They are here out with their first compilation, which is compiled by Shahar Bar-Itzhak and Gabi Toubi. They give us both, full on and progressive sound.

First out is a track originally made by Vibrasphere (Rickard Berglöf and Robert Elster) and released on their album Lime Structure on Digital Structures, but here we get a remix by Cosma (R.I.P.) (Avihen Livne). Cosma tragically died in a motorcycle accident in Goa last. His second album Nonstop was released after he died, on Hommega Productions. The version he gives us here, sounds a lot like the style on the Nonstop album. Very drifting, with an atmospheric floating vibe all the way. Progressive trance, but in a bit harder way than the stuff we usually get from Vibrasphere. A beautiful, groovy track, perfect for the morning. Track 2 is by BLT (Yuli Fershtat) who is doing well on the progressive scene these days. The track we get here is remixed by Psycraft (Alon Algrasi and Nir Sadon). Here we get more stumping full on from them. We get some voice samples and a drifting psychedelic vibe. Track 3 is by Onyx (Yanniv Gold Farb). He gives us more stumping full on. Groovy, rolling bassline with twisted, bubbling sounds jumping in and out of the track. It sounds almost nagging and this is not my cup of tea, but I’m sure some of you will like it. Track 4 is by an artist called Electro Sphere (Yanniv Shults Biton). He follows with the same style as Onyx. A heavy rolling bass line and some intense sounds nagging inside.

Track 5 is by Rinkadink (Vana Van Jaarsveld). Here we get darker vibes for the night. Rinkadink has his own way of doing full on and a lot of it sounds pretty crazy. The track we get here varies quite a lot and a lot of the psychedelic sounds swirling in there are pretty twisted. Track 6 is by Exaile (Nir Sobol and Eyal Tzur) who has become pretty popular lately for some unknown reason. I’m not a big fan of their music. They make full on, very much like Skazi, and just like with Skazi tracks, I get this awfull hard house feeling with their tracks. The track we get here is not any better than the usual stuff from these guys. Simple melodies and a bit boring bassline. Then we get a track by Evil Drug Lords (Guy Youngmn and Dudu Atrash). This track is definitely better, with more drift and not as nagging hard house sounds. Track 8 is an interesting collaboration between someone called Nes (Nisim Gabay) and the talented Mr. Peculiar (Dustin Saafield) who released a great album called Elements on the Australian label Tribe-Adelic Records in 2002. They give us a strong, full on track, with a really heavy bassline, nice melodies and great psychedelic sounds. It builds up and will for sure do good on various dance floors around the world. Nice one. The last track on this album is actually my favourite here. It is made by someone called Zen Mechanics (Wouter Thomassen). This is a really pushing track, with a totally trippy vibe all the way through. Floating sounds, cool voice samples and a very strong rhythm drift. Great finish on this compilation!

With this compilation, you get a nice selection of artists and various styles. A couple of the tracks are not my style, but you also get some really strong tracks. The cover art is pretty funny inside with the mental case note, but could obviously have looked a bit better on the outside.
