Unlike lots of other DnB stuff, most of these tracks have not aged a bit. After almost 10 years most of them sound fresh and exciting. One of my favorite albums. I occasionally give it to friends to introduce them into DnB. Best tunes are from J Majik ("Your Sound" and "Final Approach"). Incredible drum programming. It seems that nobody is producing tunes like these nowadays.

Doc Scot's Unofficial Ghost is awesome! I kwow this track now for 5 years or something like that and I can keep listening it over and over. After two and a half min. those dark sounds start and the tune never gets boring. When I play it I always have to play it a second time cause it's so damn good. All ten songs of the first cd kick ass also. A real must have for junglists. You must also check out the second vol. of Platinum Breakz which is much darker but a killer too.

Goldie and jungle were hyped beyond belief in 1996. And this comp is an excellent testimony of that era, when Metalheadz was at its peak in terms of hype. Not to say it's not as good today, quality have ALLWAYS been in MTZ agenda, but before this comp was released release anticipations were so high : Metalheadz, this incredible label, is going to release its first comp, kill to get it, etc....
Anyway, no filler in sight with this one. Check especially Peshay's Nocturnal on disc 2, so dark, so good. I've seen on this site a version with an extra Goldie track on disc 2, never seen this one in shops...Gutted

One of the essential DnB-albums which mixes jazz influences and ambient things with tricky beats. Highlights are Photek and J Majik ("Final Approach"). If you're a beginner to DnB this album is a must.

Some nice d'n'b from right before it went all 2-steppy. Sort of dark, atmospheric pads, rough breaks and quality production. 1,2,3,5,6,9,10 on CD1 are great. CD 2 is kinda weak with only track 1 standing out (maybe the best on the whole compilation).

This is probably THE best collection of London D'n'B tracks to start with. Now already seeming old-skoolish, it still gives you a very good idea of where the roots of todays Drum and Bass lie. Not to forget about the classic tracks, e.g. 'Consciousness' by Photek.
