Notes

"An Artificial Intelligence video - electronic listening music for the eyes"

This is effectively a video version of the Artificial Intelligence II compilation (WARPCD23) with tracks from the album (plus one from Polygon Window) accompanied by computer animations.

Video titles:
Track 1: (Nanotechnics.1)
Tracks 2 & 3: (Mirage)
Track 4: (Corpus Porpoise Posthumous Non Polhemus)
Track 5: (Lifespan)
Track 6: (Sim)(biotics)

Total running time: approx. 40 minutes

Track 6 is only mentioned as "Basscadet" in the tracklisting/credits, it is, however, the "Bcdtmx" version from the Basscad.ep.

Great release at the time - it was so exciting to see "computer graphics" that didn't follow the cliched 'Stakker' formula (psychedelic spinning visuals, fractals, etc) of so many "rave" videos of the time. This, like the music, is far more contemplative. The pieces look really dated now of course, not only in the quality but also the editing, but this is still worth a look.

The zebra-striped dolphins that accompany Speedy J's track work really well with the music, as does the "virus" film for 'Basscadet'. It was also good to see nods from computer artist Phil Wolstenholme not only to the android from the cover of the original 'Artifical Intelligence', but also to his earliest Warp covers: 'Pioneers of the Hypnotic Groove' and 'Evolution of the Groove' are referenced in the film accompanying Richard H Kirk's track. But the whole thing really falls flat if compared to something more recent like 'Gantz_Graf'.

My 11 year-old copy is a bit wonky these days, though. Come on Warp, give us it on DVD!
