This is a fantastic collection of early techno from some of the finest techno producers of the early 1990s. It's a very well-rounded collection of tracks that legitimized the sounds of techno when most kids were still digging on Kurt Cobain and the "Seattle sound". That's right boys and girls - Richie Hawtin, Sven Rohrig, and David Holmes were still in their relative infancy when NovaMute brought them to my attention in 1993. This is an excellent comp with some really good tracks that cover hard to light, slow to fast. All very unique in their own way and much more delicately produced than the point-and-click production of today's "techno". A cornerstone of my collection, I would encourage everybody to check this one out if you like involved production and excellent musicianship. Certainly an under-rated item in early techno. NovaMute had some kind of magic working for them when this one was put out, because earlier and later NovaMute just didn't taste as good. These tracks are just that great! But that's just my humble opinion!
