Review by Pioneero Dec 20, 2008
The name of Pioneer means top-seller in Spain. Since its beginning 9 years ago with its first volume, the myth has been spreading all over the territory, including what was the best of the best in Dance music at the time of release.

Also, the name of Pioneer, but actually, the name of the label broughts to the customers the decadence of this kind of music in Spain. Back to 2006, when the tyranny of Electro began to arrive to the country, the Spanish charts and compilations released began to show how all the Dance genres were falling, one by one, with no apparent reason. The culmination is here today (and will be tomorrow, and so on), and we can see how this compilation began as the best of Dance, House and Progressive, became the best of Electro, Electro and Electro.

Spanish labels disappeared or focused on other music styles like pop and idols. While Blanco Y Negro remained as the real only one on Dance music, yet the most veteran too, its politics of absolute commercialism go to the detriment of variety and customer-pleasing.

You could judge by yourself how each tracklist of each CD can be perfectly swapped with each other. Yes, the labels "Electro", "Dance" and "House" are just a tradition that is no longer true today.

But don't get this bad, it has been already told that Pioneer is a synonym of top-selling, and it is. This is for sure the best Dance compilation you can get in Spain at this moment, and one of the few that still come with 3 potential CDs. Please note that if you look for real variated Dance, you should think about it twice. If you look for House, or I'd better say, Electro, this is your Christmas gift.

The sad part is that this tendence doesn't seem to end as long as Electro keeps reigning everywhere. The never explained marginalization of the Dance and Progressive genres from the labels is the true mark of the backwardness in Dance of Spain, compared to the rest of Europe. If you want to listen to some Dance or Progressive, the solution is import. Old Pioneer fans will remember how great were the Dance hits and how impressive were the Progressive tunes at the beginning of the millennium, usually being considered by radios and media as the essential tracks to understand this kind of electronic music: Dance.

I honestly insist. This is the top notch of Dance in Spain. A compilation not to be missed. Yet it makes you think what happens in your country about Dance and why can't you have the variety you had in the past. And it isn't because that kind of genres have been stopped producing.
