"Unlike the classical product-prototype the prototypes presented were never invented in order to be reproduced as a series. The appeal of the prototype lies in the possibility of being perhaps so perfect that it could be reproduced a thousand times so that eventually it could be capitalized on but it is not initially invented with this aim in mind.
At times it is awkward and in fact unusable. At times it plays coquettishly, like a star, with the idea of being reproduced but without ever intending this. For this reason the prototype, as the Russian electronic musician Richardas Norvila writes, “Has also something very erotic and seductive about it.”
And don’t forget:
And should a prototype, even one of acting and thinking, ever go "serial" then it eliminates itself. This is not a bad thing. But a new one should soon be invented. A market principle that is directed against itself. The empire strikes back."
