Ah... the first psychedelic trance cd I ever heard back in september 1998. I couldn't be exposed earlier to this music as there was really no way to find any cd here in italy :). Therefore I want and feel to comment this awesome classic release! Every track in this double cd is a killer classic...no doubts!
Here we go:
1-01 Stanley Shanti & The Chillum Wallahs: it builds up so fastly that enchains you to the floor, there is that mad repetitive sample that really gets in your head plus the synths are superbly acidic. Monstrous track!
1-02 Pretty dark mooded yet psychotic track by Green Nuns here.. Is surely a deep change after first mindblowing track, but it is just a momentaneous intermission before...
1-03 ...One of the most classic track ever made strikes in!!.. Boris Blenn defined the positive Goa Trance atmosphere with this track, so classic and powerfoul you can't really say you know this music if u never heard this track. It left a strong mark in me and a deep love for positive vibes; an absolute pacifier and I bet no one can think something bad while listening to this. Technically speaking is also a massive complex tune quite fast and a sample that made history.
1-04 Is the strangest track of the comp., an acidic track, quite interesting but surely dated right now, altough it has a deep atmospheric thing going on.
1-05 Fast stomping drilling Transwave is taking us to a nice journey through the France definition of early goa music. The acid lines are running all over and surely made a hit of the times.
1-06 Another incredible classic. Man With No Name surely set a milestone with this remix, ten thousand times better than the original edit of the track. Actually he revitalized and changed it much, giving his particular and mysterious touch :).
1-07 This track has one of the best atmosphere and intro I ever heard into this genre.. it is simply superb. The synth starts in a progressive way that was well ahead of the times, as progressive trance began to appear later on. The tune is enchanting and getting you through a wonderfoul mental trip.
1-08 Doof with a slightly minimalistic track (compared to the tunes he had around at the time) surely less impressive than the others on this cd. I frankly admit I never liked this one. The end saves the tune but sincerly for my taste the track needed much more layers/fxs.
1-09 Disco Volante most classic tune. This defined the beginning of the Transient Records sound. The beat is so typical u can recognize it amongs tons and tons of tracks :).. A good classic. Can work on a dancefloor even today in my opinion, as the progression of the synth is simply marvellous.
1-10 Sourmash, dont really know what this tune is doing into this compilation as really this ain't goa.. is more classic Trance, fitting better into clubs than into forest parties.. altough it has an interesting acidic line in the middle.
2-01 Total Eclipse starts the second cd with a massive tune.. never been very famous as other classics altough refined and very appealing to my taste.. the synth's fading out effect is really something particular :).. Crazy ideas in the French minds.
2-02 Indoor, israeli masters of psychedlic trance are presenting here a real classic that has been played for a long time due to its particular sound. Production might be not excellent but surely a spiritual track.
2-03 This track is the weakest of the second cd and can't really say it has some special attitude except for a nice melody in the middle of the track.
2-04 I always wanted to know what the secret of mana is, since I read the title of this track, and the oriental/mystic touch it has is really marvellous, a monstrous classic. An underground project that never got to the right exposure in my opinion, as they are/were really talented.
2-05 Another atmospheric intro that leaves the place to a really wonderfoul acidic line, so fast it can lead your mind to think faster. I really love this tune and would never stop affirming it left a mark into the scene as well.
2-06 But here it comes the FIRST ever goa trance track I heard in all my life. Thanks to a friend who insered it into a guitar heroes tape he made for me long ago, I immediately got hooked to this sound. So incredibly psychedelic it will always stay in my top 10. The prodution itself can't be coinsidered massive but the voices in the middle of the track are somehow incredibly enchanting.. together with the simple acid line that produces a psychoactive reaction into my mind...a total eclipse of my mind. Inpossible to miss.
2-07 Blue Planet Corp. needs no intro.. This is one of ther hugest and most acclamed tracks. Storming track that really gets into complexity very quickly, and that get you hooked to something wonderfoul :)
2-08 After all these fast killers a nice smooth mid-tempo track, altough the fact that is slower doesnt really stop it from being a great track, hypnotic i can say.
2-09 Judson Elloart has never been my cup of tea.. too spacey.. altough the fxs were nicely done it never grew on me.
2-10 Couldn't be a better end to this marathon: the wonderfoul Astral Pancakes by the master Hallucinogen ;). Nothing to say, except that is quite mental and wicked (well thats his special feature and quality ehehe).
In my opinion this cd couldn't better express the epic expression of psychedelic trance of the times that were once (unfortunately)...
