Yes, when I bought mine in 1993 it had Apotheosis' "O Fortuna" - I think due to the lawsuit by Carl Orff's estate. wikipedia Explanation Following:

[In 1991, a group named Apotheosis produced a heavily resampled version of O fortuna. The estate of Carl Orff (Orff died in 1982, 9 years prior) considering it was undignified that the Carmina Burana be reworked into popular culture, immediately and successfully sued to stop the distribution of the record. Therefore, it cannot be bought new in any record store for any price, and can only be found as a rare used record. This is especially paradoxical as Orff himself was an avid recycler of other people's work, O Fortuna being itself an example. This work was also adapted for the Carlton Draught "Big Ad" campaign of the early 21st century.]

I would like to obtain the original with "O Fortuna" by Apotheosis again.

this has to be one of the most overplayed rave cd's of the 90's. i have heard each of these songs hundreds of times at various clubs during that time period(not so much at raves). the cd still rocks for the most part. its truly vintage rave. its the kind of cd you can put away for years and play it again one day and still enjoy it. it sums up the early rave scene well as a progression of the acid house scene of the 80's. make sure to get the version that has the original version of o'fortuna. this cd was meant to be played loud. play it so loud it distorts a little lol.

Yep. If you grew up in the US looking for "rave" music this is without a doubt the the first "rave" compilation you laid your hands on. It just seemed to be widely available. At the time they'de have that one small section at the record store..."Dance/Electronic" or whatever and they'de have about 30 tapes or so. This one just stuck out. I have very fond memories of this tape (wow it was that long ago - got i ton a tape!) Some of the songs are on the "cheesier" side but nonetheless what a great introduction to techno music at the time. The stuff on this compilation was the sort of stuff they'de play at the early raves at the shrine auditorium in LA (where I ended up going to school...things really took off in the mid 90's when they started playing the oakenfold style perfecto fluoro type stuff at the raves..talk about fond memories!). If I recall the label for this compilation was actually threatened with a lawsuit becuase of the language and samples used in the first song (copyright). Hence, there are two versions of this compilation....I still think about this compilation from time to time...not sure how it made the impact it did.

This gets my vote as the all-time worst rave compilation, but as others have suggested, this (for some strange, otherworldly reason) seems to be either the first "techno" compilation that every suburban American raver bought, or heard. Who ran the marketing department for these folks?

If nothing else, this makes you realize how far this music has come, but man, some of the tracks on this compilation are simply painful to listen to. Highly recommended for sampling if you want to make "joke-no" to send to your friends while drunk at 5 A.M., though.

I don't think this is such a bad one 10 years on like everyone seems to think. It's funny how as I get older, it becomes the "space to think" record, that I can put on and ignore, just to have some sort of sound in the background. It's not the best, but it's the stuff that everyone heard first I think (was with me ....), so I'm kinda glad I heard it.
