Track C1 is incorrectly printed as "Freash People"
B1 is taken from Rue East– Indoor Culture Remixes (2002) (Pure Plastic) (PP040)
B2 is to my knowledge an exclusive to this release
C1 is taken from Alpharisc– Fresh People (2002) (Wetmusik) (WET 016)
C2 is taken from the Paul Mac– Elvis Beats (2001) (Stimulus Recordings) (Stim 012)
D1 is taken from Ratio– Ratio Remixed Part 3 (2001) (Central) (CSP 03)
D2 could be taken from the Primitive Streak Redefined (2002) (Cosmic Records) (LCT017R), a white label. I'd need and appreciate a confirmation for that one though.
Call it what you want, but this double pack contains some of Ben Sims most usable, well crafted takes on other producer's work. The tracks have an undeniable groove, succulent bass, funky tribal percussion and accessible structure which makes any given number off this release a winner on the dance floor.
Turn the bass up, drop these cut-up gems in your set and watch bodies twitch and turn in pure joy!
Sure, one may argue all tracks follow the same formula, but I guess that is kind of the point here: to gather some of Ben's interpretation of well known and loved dance floor classics, and give them the Theory/Hardgroove touch... More than just excellent tools, these are quality tracks to listen to as well, and I'd be bald enough to call this release as good as those elusive Killa Productions vinyls he did with Paul Mac and Mark Broom.
Unfortunately, just as the aforementioned material, tracking down a copy of this has become something of a nightmare. It's probably the toughest Ben Sims release to fetch, that I am aware of, but I may just as well be on some other ish.
Regardless, "Re-edits. Re-mixes. Re-works" is a treasure to hold dear in your crate. Many parties were enhanced with these fat, big tribal work outs!
