Contrary to the last post, I find this mix to be THE quintessential Mark Farina mix. It has everything that made the mid 90's such a great time for House Music. I mean, seriously, Paper Music Issue One? I really miss Mark's track selections from this era, he had a much deeper, smooth sound somewhere between Miles Maeda and Derrick Carter. Aside from the track selection the mixing here is impeccable, at a time when DJ's made mixes with vinyl, wow. This will be one of the first mixes my child will hear.

This mix CD is a great example of seriously deep house music. The programming is near flawless, managing to inject raw East Coast house beats with jazzy progressive songs from the UK. The mixing is straightforward but the songs compliment each other keeping a cohesive structure and maintaining overall flow. To me this is much better than his later mixes which tended towards incorporating several different styles and end up sounding more dated than this mix.

Great CD for its time. As another reviewer mentioned not as good as SF Sessions or some of Mark's other releases on Om but this mix CD is a definite classic. It shows the deeper side of Farina.

For me this is a daytime CD to listen to while cruising the beach or at a BBQ. For those that are expecting banging Chicago style house you will be disappointed. For people that like mellow deep house mixed by a living legend pick this up!

Obviously Eikwel is not a serious househead! This Mix is legendary groovy house ! From Salt City Orchestras Paper Music to Kerri Chandler this mix is packed with quality house for the true Heads!
Its definitely not your typical house mix, but far superior to SF sessions and the latter Farina stuff!. If you like the chill house sound, I suggest you light up a jazz cigarette and kickback to the sound of Seasons. San Francisco house sounds circa 1995

I'm a big fan of Mark Farina, but this mix does not appeal me. I don't know why it's so rare and so appreciated. The mixing is okay, is common...and I find the tracklist boring. Compare it to San Francisco Sessions. 3 years later, it's reaaaallly better.

If you're looking for one of the reasons Mark Farina was able to galvanise his reputation nationwide as one of the premier jockeys and branch out from the early mix tapes of yore (Mushroom Jazz, Grab the beach we're headed for the ball, and numerous numerous others).
This was it. Marks first real chance to step out and stretch out his house mixing skills. Also one of the first times Mark was able to really branch off from the legendary back in the day pairing of Derrick and Mark. known up and down far and wide as the primo destruction squad.
