Various - Soul Obsession

This, the third in the series of Soulfood compilations, is definitely the best. Soul Addiction, although good, was also quite repetitive with very little difference between many of the tracks. Thankfully Soul Obsession doesn’t have the same problem and the tracks on offer are almost all high quality. On Solaria Caiden adds a touch of funk to the track while Una Esta has plenty of lush atmospherics. Aaron Jerome’s contribution is a perfect example of the laid back downtempo style now associated with Good Looking Records’ offshoot labels such as Soulfood. The only let down is the Vincent track which isn’t great, the bassline being too loud and the sounds in stereo getting quite irritating after a while.
