referencing Stay Awake (Various Interpretations Of Music From Vintage Disney Films), LP, SP 3918

I expected this to be interesting as Hal Willner's all star concept albums seem to be but this is almost entirely filled with lame covers. Some seriously cringeworthy moments here - "ooh ooh ooh I wanna be like you" - it seems that Los Lobos don't even know the words to the song they are doing let alone they are delivering a seriously puerile version !?! Sun Ra's take on "Pink Elephants on Parade" is the shining star here and Tom Waits' "Heigh Ho" isn't too bad but other than these the album is pretty weak...
