When the highly acclaimed deep house label Guidance Recordings called it a day, their spiritual heirs decided to launch Subtitled Records. Under the motto "Soundtracks For Movies That Don't Exist Yet" Subtitled releases quality dubby downtempo trip hop records who aim to provide the perfect soundtrack for ... ehr, well about anything that your devious mind is up to, the darker the better. This compilation gives a good overview of the what the concept stands for. The musical style holds the midst between Kruder & Dorfmeister stuff, The Cinematic Orchestra and Troublemakers (make sure to check out their "Doubts & Convitions" album on Guidance), but it's still very special and unique in it's own way.
A few key words tio describe this release: dark, deep, raunchy. Very recommended, get it.
