Reviews & Discussion

Rated 4/5
Review by Josephschembri Nov 30, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Every trance lover will have little difficulty in understanding that the name of this quadruple CD release is not true. However this set contains some awesome tracks of which some are surely trance classics-> and yes trance, not necessarily goa trance.

Tracks like Overdrive (!), State Of Mind, Hold It To The Rhythm, Ancient Forest (!) & Heaven Can Wait (!) are not exactly goa but I think are some remarkable trance classics. Extremely melodic cuts!

I’ll not discuss the ambient track “Papua New Guinea” of course. Pure psychedelic all time gems like “Goaway”, “Magic Frequencies”, “Moonraker” and “Touch The Sun” appear on this compilation. The mind boggling tunes by the 1st of Jake Stephenson’s aliases (S.T.O.A) are easily his finest. Also try Acid Attack & Forces of Technology under his Symbiotic alias.

We find awesome cuts by Sundog, Cosmosis & Mindfield, three of the biggest names of the genre. And also listen attentively to the (could be his first) tracks by Phil Merrall (aka Jupiterhead mainly) Surprisingly fine; it’s a pity that soon productions by the latter started to appear in voluminous box sets under a string of aliases for obvious money making reasons.

Certainly this release might not have a very good rating on Discogs, but believe me – should you find it at a reasonable price think about it. If you don’t have the essential tracks mentioned above it will at least expand your collection!
