I remember buying the double-LP back in the day, and only recently tracked down the hard-to-find CD reissue, but this is THE best Tommy Boy compilation of them all - why? It includes the cream of the crop of the early seminal years, from LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT BEAT to MALCOLM X's NO SELL OUT (aka Keith LeBlanc, who also turns up again on this comp as BEATMASTER to deliver the absolutely killer electro-breaks underground goodie LIPSERVICE) and key tracks by PLANET PATROL and JONZUN CREW, etc. The only glaring omission is another mid-80s GLOBE AND WHIZ KID single that I loved but never saw much DJ/chart action: "HE'S GOT THE BEAT" - featuring amazing synth/drum machine grooves and a hooky female chorus - good stuff, never to be issued on CD, alas.
