Already Tresor were beginning to shift towards the dark/percussive/minimal/schranz style they now consistently release here in the naughties. But with Tresor Kompilation 3 we get selections of techno in all forms. Ambient: Schizophrenia (here in its full version, Fehlmann sadly only included an edit on his Good Fridge Flowing album), Minimal: Maurizio's "Domina" (again here in its full 13 minute version, the MCD only has an 11 minute edit), bangin' schranz: DJ Hell Allerseelen (Jeff Mills Remix) and Beltram's "Ten Four", and some Detroit action with Blake Baxter's "Energizer".

Tresor 2 was more diverse, but 90% of the material here is strong enough that it doesn't matter. It's pretty hard to pick a standout as we have Sun Electric's wonderful Monolith (dark-melodica, no beats!), pared next to the heavenly Schizophrenia (why don't Fehlmann and Mauritz Von Oswald pair up again?!), AND a Maurizio cut. Basically if you have any interest in techno, and want to look into some compilations, this and Tresor 2 and 4 should be near the top of your list!! Best track = um... I DONT KNOW!!

I know it's all opinions and such, but I was terribly disappointed when I first heard this CD. Too much minimalistic, DJ-friendly same from start-to-finish "traxx" and no real "songs". I tried listening last summer after not listening to it for like 8 years thinking a fresh approach would change my mind, but I was bored to tears by it. The only really kick-ass tune on it (in my opinion) is Motor Music-Maerz by 3 Phase, because A- 3 Phase is the shit, and B- the 303 is the only "musical" element in the entire comp. The rest is boring, sub-par minimalistic strictly-rhythm "beats". I'm very certain many will see it differently, and if you're into DJ-friendly 13-minute tracks that never change you'll love it, but I was bored to tears by all but the 3 Phase track. Two stars for Sven Rohrig only.

There is indeed a rhythm of vision - 'the colour sensitivity of the human eye when seeing at twilight fluctuates in three superimposed rhythms: a daily rhythm; an annual rhythm; and a synodic lunar rhythm'. Top Detroit business once again.

This album is not a classic but moments like Schizophrenia(Basic Channel/Thomas Fehlmann), Domina(Maurizio) & Monolith(Sun Electric) make it all worthwhile..Get it for these alone.Hence the three stars!!

"Solid Sleep" on here is a pretty short track - the first release of "Solid Sleep" was on "Waveform Transmission Vol. 3" according to the liner notes, so maybe that one's longer.

in case i could only keep 1 release from Tresor i would go for this one . Look at the artists + tracklisting . This is classic techno-no more and no less- a perfect compilation and dynamiote in the hands of a good DeeJay ....

For me this is a definitive album as it came out around the same time as the first Tribal Gathering in this country. If anyone was at this party as i'm sure a few of you were you will know exactly what i mean when i say it really captured the mood of the Planet Cyberpunk tent where Hawtin , Mills et all lifted everybody up and pushed us all over the edge. Will never forget that and the first time i played this compilation. A great selection\collection of music to remind me of the moment.
