Conceptual art meets locked grooves. This record comes with a postcard telling you all you need to know about the art installation from which this stems (which means I don't have to hark on about it). In brief, then - side one is 55 loops of 'digital silence', amounting to pretty much the most minimal record imaginable. Think 55 run-out grooves with the pops and clicks becoming the "music" (beat that, Raster Noton!). On side two, eleven artists were invited to make 5 loops each, including Christian Fennesz, Tim Hecker, Radian, Phill Niblock, Charlemagne Palestine and Carl Michael von Hausswolff. Quite an achievement, you have to admit.
