Vladislav Delay - Multila

Now this is surely one of the most abstract albums on the legendary Chain Reaction label. Vladislav Delay's "Multila" is another aquatic sounding epic, much like Porter Ricks' "Biokinetics", except this heads even further into the murky depths.

"Ranta" begins our journey, and sets the tone for the rest of the album with a heady mix of murky sounscapes and complex background noises. "Raamat" adds 4/4 beats along with ghostly synths, humming background noise and echoing sounds rising to the surface like bubbles. "Huone", clocking in at just over 20 minutes, starts with an abstract broken beat rhythm, gradually adding elements to form a complex minimal techno/house track that should appeal to fans of early Luomo material.

"Viite", "Karha" and "Pietola" are even better, the beats and bass gradually emerging from complex constructions of sound that descriptions just wouldn't do justice to. "Nesso" ends our journey with a floaty feel, giving the listener the impression of rising to the surface from the oceanic depths of the previous tracks. Now also available On Vladislav Delay's Huume Recordings, there's no excuse not to own this amazing work.

As much as I have for ages thought this one of the best albums of electronic music ever, it only recently dawned on me, listening to this album at sunset in Arizona, how great an album this is for any genre. Various processes leave digits flying over a deep orange sea of light. The first two tracks flicker in and out like a burning candle. Huone hits with a minimal beat and spans out to become an absolute epic of microdub, full of broken modem signals and what feels like automated city lights turning on and off at dusk. Viita, Karha, and Pietola pick up where the first two tracks left off, diving deeper into a warm, swelling, melancholy sea of dub. Nesso hits like somebody just remembered to turn on dawn, as the sun rises over delay effects left to run their course, the ruins of the night.

Now THIS is a good record from Chain Reaction!
It is filled with really, call it stunning, timeless soundscapes.
I keep listening to this record.

For me was this record the beginning interest for the Chain Reaction label.
This is really powerfull stuff and I recommerce it to all listeners from Chain Reaction.

Vladislav Delay’s album on Chain Reaction, MULTILA, strikes a beautiful minimalist stance on the first two tracks, “Ranta” and “Raamat,” layering long, sustained notes with electronic gurglings underneath. “Huone” injects a kick drum into the mix, letting the tones throb in time with the beat for about 20 minutes. Delay slowly adds and removes elements from the track, so that it expands, rather than grow stale (for instance, the beat drops out halfway through, only to return a few minutes later). “Viite” piles on the distortion, and “Karha” goes for moody ambience. “Pietola” is ambient as well, but with more clicks and buzz. And, finally, “Nesso” goes for bright and swirling. While not groundbreaking (as some of the early Chain Reaction releases), it’s certainly an excellent listening experience.

if you like ambient and experimental dub with glitch overtones you'll be into this. the album builds slowly, with track 3, Huone (Delay), drop'n the first beat. the tone of this album is best put as eerie but at the same time somewhat warm at times.
