For all the hype it's recieved, I'm surprised no one has commented on this track already. In my humble opinion, the track is an excellent example of early italo disco. One of the first Rago-Farina prodcutions, the song is a deep electro based track (note the 808 drum at the beginning) with a distinct female vocal singing throughout. Althought half of the vocals/lyrics are impossible to understand, this remains one of the deepest italo disco songs due to its dark and mysterious nature. Franco Rago and Gianluigie Farina would go onto produce much better songs, but no other would create such a captivating atmosphere.

Here stands one of the ultimate italo-disco gems. A very hard to find and expensive one but worth all effort. It's unbelievable that this was produced in 1982.

Rago & Farina produced a lot of classics in the italo-disco genre during that period (which I like a lot), but they never were able to create such a dreamy and nostalgic song like "The Man From Colours", I can't describe it otherwise. Many italo-disco songs were created to make people dance. This one is different. It's really a song that you can "listen" to although it's impossible to understand one word of the lyrics. It's all about atmosphere here. The very melancholic synthline in combination with the 808 drumpattern and the female lyrics are breathtaking.

Especially after +/- 3 minutes there's a 20 second 808-part that gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Simple but so effective. It's the kind of 808-sound that would be used a lot in late 90's The Hague-style electro (yes, with the cowbell :p).

This song was way ahead of it's time and is unique in it's style. Worth all the "hype".
