This album is absolutely excellent. It starts with the title track 'Largo' which is a fantastic, dramatic piece of music. The track is built around a clicking metronome and switches from an eerie feel to sheer beauty very subtly. 'Pray'r' is also excellent, featuring stunning ivory tinkling from Bill Rieflin. There are several short interludes on the LP in the form of 'wakes' which are interesting and break it up nicely. The other highlight of the album has to be the beautiful 'The Call Girls' featuring cello solos which will melt the heart. It's a short but addictive melancholy song which I personally can't get enough of. Also included is a great cover of John Cale's brilliant 'Close Watch'. All in all an excellent album by two excellent musicians. Essential listening.
