The sleeve on the CD claims 'superb mix...to set the mood for those late night sessions'. Well, it need not be a late night to enjoy this selection as 'Happy Feeling' by Mateo y Matos will get you up and about anytime of the day. In fact, the first disc is my preferred of the two, tracks 4 through to 12 flowing nicely, the highlight being the Ron Trent produced 'African Blues-Word Sound Power' by Urban Sound Gallery-the tribal rhythms are intoxicating! The second disc is definately downtempo, but is lovely and reaches it's climax with 'Out of the Storm' by Incognito, a beautiful track that is at once relaxing yet engaging. Some of the mixes leave something to be desired, tracks being brought in but then rather ubruptly cut, but generally the boys of X-Press 2 seem to understand key-mixing and how to ride the pitch. All in all 4 out of 5 and probably the most satisfying of the Ministry of Sound compilations, alongside Late Night Sessions 3.

How many classic tunes on one album - Los Jugaderos 'What You Doing to This Girl?' (Ashley Beedle and Phil Asher in full effect), Persuasion 'The Bone', Gareth Cooke & Don Carlos 'Dynamix' the list goes on. As rare as rocking horse shit on both vinyl and CD now though!
