Reviews & Discussion

If you only know Yello from novelty tracks like "Oh Yeah", this really is the album you should be listening to.

This album is filled with lush ambient soundscapes and trancey sounds, some of which didn't hit the mainstream until years later. There's also this constant dark undertone running throughout the album that makes it particularily special for me. I couldn't pick a favourite track off this album because to me it sounds like it's a piece of work that should be rated as a complete piece rather than picking apart the individual tracks.

This is undoubtedly one of my favourite albums of all time - the only thing I don't like is the album cover, but thankfully it's the music that matters.

Fantastic, underrated album from some of electronic music's pioneers. Yello went in a decidedly harder direction for this release but it's certainly not repetive; in typical Yello fashion they bounce you all over the place, from ambient textures to tribal workouts to dense techno rhyhtms. Dieter's trademark vocals make a strong appearance here and work perfectly for tracks like 'On Track' and 'Magnetic'. While it's hard to pick a favorite Yello album, this is certainly a favorite of mine. Oh and the Stevie B-Zet remix of 'To The Sea' is superb as well, a strange way to end the release but one of the catchiest tracks Stevie has ever done.
