The music of Boards Of Canada taps into a unique nostalgia fueled by memories which seem tantalisingly out of reach, who's provenance exists in infantile and possibly even foetal recollections of transmitted material from the outside world. With this in mind, the feeling of warmth and passive content which the listener achieves is no happy accident, though it certainly does make me happy!

Possibly my favorite band ever. Amazing, haunting music made with synthesizers, drum machines, guitars, and drum kits all fed through vintage tape machines. This is possibly the only band where I can say that I've enjoyed every single track put out by them. BOC can do no wrong.

Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin took hauntology as a music genre and pushed it further. No other band has ever made me feel so oddly nostalgic. Their sound is so out of this world, yet so human and it's an indescribable feeling of childhood memories as if you can swear you heard their tracks play on an old radio in the background as a child and somehow it stuck with you yet to this day (Try listening to Carcan for example). Tracks like "Kid For Today" feature sounds reminiscent to trucks driving in the distance out in the country and "The Smallest Weird Number" is just simply perfected beauty. Some people say tracks like Oirectine are very dark and and sad, but i find it very soothing and kind of "epic" actually. I started with "Geogaddi" and i found it to be a very good first listen so i suggest you pick that album. There is so much from them i can recommend, here are some top picks:
"Rodox Video"
"King Of Carnival"
"Nothing Is Real"
"Kid For Today"
"New Seeds"
"Satellite Anthem Icarus"
"84 Pontiac Dream"
"Constants Are Changing"
And of course "Everything You Do Is A Balloon".

There's so much good stuff in their discography and some VERY rare records.

i owe these guys huge. their music literally saved my life when i was in a major depression with suicidal tendencies, listening to them were the only thing i was holding to. nowadays, when all this insanity is long gone, boc's tunes are reborn anthem to me. thank you guys, lots

1998. I was living in Vancouver BC and got a post-card from Japan, from my old friend Con, advising me to pick up a new release on WARP called Music Has The Right To Children by BoC and blaze a fat cone'r. I knew if it was important enough to warrant a genuine Astroboy postcard from Japan this was not a release to sleep on so I followed the instructions precisely, and achieved the desired results: Boards of Canada's music had a tremendous impact upon my tastes, and MHTRTC would years later save my life when nothing else could reach me.

There is in MHTRTC an emotional soundscape that recalls childhood: for me it sounds like what it was to be a child in western Canada in the early 1980s, Calgary in particular. Like Proust's madeleine it transports through time and the murk of memory to reveal the true meaning of experience. Or it's a highly over-rated thing you can't understand why others are so enthralled by. Either way, it's music that provokes a reaction.

Geogaddi I cannot listen to in its entirety as certain sections disturb me greatly in a way I find extremely difficult to vocalize. I've nearly thrown up while listening to it with headphones. Some strange science at work there.

I didn't think much of Campfire Headphase when it came out, but it has grown on me tremendously. It's my favourite BoC album for a top-down drive on a sunny fall day.

I hope in time Tomorrow's Harvest will sound better to my ears too, but it felt pretty flat on me.

For those who have had problems with the represses;

"Hi there

Many apologies for the problems with your vinyl that you have highlighted.

Whilst this is a limited problem, it is clear that there have been serious failings in the quality control at one of the plants used to produce the represses.

Warp are working on identifying the causes of this and producing replacements for anyone who has bought a copy affected by these problems.

This is going to take several weeks, but be assured that you will receive perfect replacement discs as soon as possible.

We will be in touch when these are despatched.

We are grateful for any photographs, recordings and descriptions that you can send, which can be used as evidence in our dealing with the plant in question.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Not the best pressings on these reissued albums. Shame, Warp/Bleep must have made an absolute killing with the amount of orders they've had, you'd of thought they'd make sure the pressings were excellent.
