Plastician

Real Name:Chris Reed
Profile:

Chris Reed, also known as Plastician (formerly Plasticman), is a DJ / Producer and owner of Terrorhythm Recordings from Thornton Heath in the London Borough of Croydon.

Plastician is a name synonymous with groundbreaking and forward thinking electronic music. In his early years he was most noted for his involvement at the forefront of establishing both London’s Grime scene, and the Dubstep scene. He is unique in the sense that he is the only artist who is recognised as a true pioneer of both sounds from their humble beginnings. In more recent times, he has been globally recognised for his efforts to unearthing new and exciting music without boundaries, showcasing it in his sets and through releases on his record label, Terrorhythm Recordings, which is responsible recently for introducing the world to acts such as Joker, Om Unit, AWE, GANZ and Louis Futon among others. Never one to be put in a box, Plastician specializes in finding music that joins the dots between all that is exciting in bass music across the board.

He plays a prime time weekly radio show on Rinse FM, having been on the station for 13 years he is the longest standing DJ on the station, representing them from their humble roots as a London pirate station, and helping them on their way to legal status. In 2006 he spent 18 months as part of BBC Radio 1’s “The Residency”, which then became “In New DJ’s We Trust”, continuing his Rinse FM show under an alias “Blue Stripe” during that period. His show is consistently among the most listened to podcasts on Rinse FM’s Soundcloud stream.

He is noted for being the first DJ to play tracks by Mura Masa, Joker, Om Unit, AWE and Rustie, among countless others, and adds more to that list every week.

Besides his work as a DJ he is a respected producer, having worked with many record labels through his career, and working with the likes of Wiley, Snoop Dogg, M.I.A., JME, Skepta and others through his productions.
