In the late eighties Carl Craig adopted the Detroit sound of pioneers Juan Atkins and Derrick May and took it places it had never been before. Now one of the world's most prolific techno talents, his career evolved from co-producing the classic Strings Of Life with May. This was followe d by his own first tracks on Retroactive and led on to a relentless output of brilliant 12-inch singles on various leading Dance labels around the globe. From his earliest recordings, Craig's music has had an experimental edge that set it apart from the u sual dancefloor fodder. His releases as Psyche, Piece, Carl Craig, 69, BFC, Innerzone and Paperclip People became legendary rarities and his own label, Planet E Communications, is feverishly collected by connoisseurs of quality vinyl.

Having been at the forefront of the underground scene for years, in 1994 Craig came out of the closet and pushed the movement he helped shape further forward. Paperclip People's Throw/Remake Uno, his remix of Tori Amos' God and 69's Jam The Box introduced him to a wider audience and boosted his renown in the Dance community. Due to public demand, the two much sought-after EP's he recorded that year as 69 for R & S Records (Sound On Sound and Lite Music - the latter containing the already classic Jam The Box) are now coupled on CD under the banner The Sound Of Music.
