Adam Lee Miller founded the Detroit record label Ersatz Audio in 1995 with the first release being his solo work under the name Artificial Material. Over the next 5 years, he would also join 2 other musical projects: Le Car (with Ian R. Clark) and Adult. (with Nicola Kuperus). He has played live with his different projects in places such as Zurich, Helsinki, and Barcelona. After developing the distinctive visual style of Ersatz Audio with Constructure's Rita Sayegh, Miller is now the head designer of EA as well. His DIY (do it yourself) graphic treatments have recently been featured in the internationally recognized design book "Disc Style" (©1999 Edition Olms AG). Mr. Miller's hard-edge paintings, with their severe colors and large integrated text and appropriated company logos, are obviously the influence for Ersatz Audio's austere look. Mr. Miller's paintings have shown throughout Detroit at The Cement Space, the Detroit Artists' Market, and the Willis Gallery.
