Al Bano: born 20-5-1943 in south Italy.
Romina: born 2-10-1951 in Los Angeles, USA. Daughter of actors Tyrone Power and Linda Christian. Al Bano and the US-born Romina met in 1967 at the shoot of one of Al Bano's music videos. They eventually married in 1970, and released two singles before their first LP - "Atto I" - came out in 1975.
The next year the duo took seventh place in Eurovision Song Contest with "We'll Live It All Again". Several more albums interspersed with singles followed, many of which were released both in Italian and Spanish - a tradition followed by many Italian artists. The duo broke through with the release of the "Felicità" LP in 1982: four of the tracks were on the charts at once, and the title track took the second place at the San Remo festival. Two years later, they won San Remo outright with "Ci Sarà".
In 1985, Al Bano & Romina Power again represented Italy at Eurovison, once again taking the seventh place with "Magic, Oh Magic". They released several more albums before parting ways in 1999. Al Bano resumed his solo carreer, while Romina tried her hand at acting and painting.
