Alec Wilder was an American composer. In addition to writing popular songs, Wilder also composed classical pieces for exotic combination's of orchestral instruments. His classical numbers, which often had off-beat, humorous titles were strongly influenced by jazz. He also wrote eleven operas.

Inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1983.
