First step in
Alton Ellis long musical career. After winning a few dance competions, he started a singing duo with Eddy Perkins. They were heavily influenced by American R&B music of the 50ties. Starting 1959, they recorded a few songs for
Blue Beat before they switched to
Clement "Coxsone" Dodd's
Studio One/
Coxsone. They also scored a massive hit with
Muriel / Walk All Over at Dodds first commercially-oriented recording session at Federal studios. Some more tunes got recorded for
Vincent "Randy" Chins
Randy's. The cooperation ended after winning a major talent contest when Eddy moved to the U.S.
