Most purists regard trance as a dirty word in electronic music, supposedly devoid of soul, trashy and pointless.

I'd put forward this pair as the exception to the rule. They made some absolutely blinding tunes together, and Jon Horrocks as Jon Vesta, continued to do so on his own until he sadly took his life.

Listening to Futura you can tell it really meant something to its creator. Driving, dark and dare I say it soulful. You can really feel what they were trying to do and how important it was that it was put to vinyl. It feels like it was imperative that the music be communicated to the outside world.

That is the sign of great music, whatever genre it might be, the
fact that most trance is so terrible ought not mean that artists such as Amethyst should be overlooked. There are other great trance records, but none that are as powerful as the ones this pair made.
