Brooklyn-based collective of musicians founded in 1998 by bandleader Martin Perna, sometimes known as the "Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra".
Antibalas is Spanish for 'bulletproof', or literally, 'anti-bullets'. They have toured and played live extensively in the past three years to push their new updated style of traditional Afrobeat music as once played by Fela Kuti and his backing band Afrika 70.
