Artie Shaw (clarinetist/bandleader). Born May 23, 1910-Died December 30, 2004. Married many stars including Ava Gardner and Lana Turner but stayed married to Evelyn Keyes from 1957 to his death. First public appearance was in his native New York on 24th May, 1936 and he was to become one of the biggest names in jazz in the 1930 & 40's swing heyday. He quit the music world in the mid-'50s and spent much of the second half of his life devoted to writing and other pursuits.
