Au Revoir Simone started life in the Fall of 2003. They began as a quartet with Sung Bin Park, but in 2005 she left the band. In the fall of 2005 they published 'Verses of Comfort, Assurance and Salvation' on Moshi Moshi Records, a mini-album made principally using keyboards, drum machines and hand percussion.
