Talking of the same concert (at the Maschinenfest 2003) I saw no funny thing but some quite strangely structured track sequences that got me bound more and more. Nice pic nonetheless...
None of their albums ever catches the intense punch of what they perform on stage. Oscillating between the devastated flatlands of noise and thunderstorm parts of drum & bass Moreau (Imminent) shows he is nothing but a genius on the control units and the other guy just rocks away the crowd. Flash! Don't miss on stage!
Olivier and Cédric's let-loose project. It sounds like a day at Disneyland with (way!) too much caffeine. Totally weird and chaotic broken beats topped with various sampled nonsense. The common factor? Humour. From the odd notes of a brass band to voices ordering chips with mayonnaise, it is impossible to reckon Axiome take themselves seriously. Even the titles are hilarious jokes and references - though (un)fortunately, I doubt anyone outside Belgium gets what is funny about that part, hein m'fi!
And live? The same thing! If you talk to him after their concert, Olivier will likely answer: "It was funny, wasn't it?"
As for Cédric, if he does not look amused and stays quiet for more than two minutes in a row while playing, you are probably watching the wrong guy. :-)
