Banana Airlines was formed in Stokmarknes, Norway in 1982 by:
- Kai Kiil (vocals and guitar)
- Rudi Høynes (drums and vocals)
- Royer Larsen (bass)
- Alf Eriksen (keyboards and vocals).
Roy Stenersen (guitar and vocals) was brought in as the fifth member before the recording of their second album På Nye Eventyr.
Next year Alf Eriksen handed the keyboard over to Sverri Dahl for the groups third album Vi kommer snart på hjem.
Three years later Royer Larsen was replaced by the bass player Dag Christensen, who participated on their two next albums Flyr Igjen and Hjelp, Vi Flyr!
After a few years break, they returned in 1994 with the album Kommer Plutselig Tilbake which contained new and old songs in a new take. They followed it up with a new album in 1996 called Går I Lufta.
So far, their last album came in 2001 and was called Fest Sikkerhetsbeltet. Stig Andreassen was brought in as the new bass player.
