Bassbin Twins

Real Name:
Pete Houser
Profile:
Bassbin Twins were born in Los Angeles, moved to Belgium, and are now based in San Francisco. Started in 1992 simply because of a "love for the beats", they've recorded for Skint, Belgian Breaks, Southern Fried, and others, as well as their own numerous one off indpendent releases.

A live Bassbin Twins show is a remix of all their favorite music. Their innovative tunes range from breaks to house to drum 'n bass. Anything and everything can get woven into the mix. Eclectic in nature, the connection lies in the unique rub they put on each track.

The future for BBT holds more live shows, new fiercely independent record releases, and more film making projects.

Reviews & Discussion

Bassbin Twins records, without fail, make people dance. I have many memories of djs filling a cleared floor by playing two or three Bassbin records back to back.

In my experience, non-djs rarely know who the Bassbins are which I find kind of interesting.

The older releases can fetch high prices, as some are quite rare. However, even some of the rare releases were repressed several times, so it's tricky to know when your copy of 'EP I' was really released.

The best thing EVER to come out of the whole Big Beat scene that happened here in the UK about 8 years ago. To compare them to Skint Records does them an injustice, as they were and still are light years ahead of anything the UK Big Beat scene produced! The like of Norman Cook, et al. owe these guys a massive mention on all their output. They wrote the book on breaks/sampling/scratching/arrangement for a dancefloor orientated crowd, and their label art isn't too shabby either. Again, i feel priveliged to have heard their tunes, simply genius stuff!

The Bassbin Twins are IT for funky house/breaks. NOTHING beats seeing them live...i'll never forget July 4, 1995 at Hyperspace II in Orlando - BBT mixed their classic breaks with big band/swing - you wouldn't think that would work, but i've never seen an entire room dance like that, before or since! If your goal is to get a crowd goin', these are your boys!

Simply one of the best big beat/breakbeat band ever created.
The bassbin know how to make people dance and dream. Their music sounds like skint label tracks...so it's sounds very good. Just listen to vol 1 side 1 track 2.....a funky track with very good samples. For me they can enter in the legend of breakbeat music.
