Beefcake is a German duo of Gabor Schablitzki and Volker Kahl. Although no official "break up" was ever announced, they have been inactive as a duo since around 2004. Most of Beefcake's music is experimental electronica with elements of IDM, dub, breakcore, illbient, drum and bass, and many many more.

Overall they have released 3 LPs, 4 EPs, and a b-sides compilation, as well as appearing on many successfull label compilations.

It's amazing how consistent both musicians are. Volker provided the sweeping melodies while Gabor crunched it up with clicky breaks. To find out what the other half of Beefcake is doing nowadays, Gabor Schablitzky also works under the name Robag Wruhme.

If you like Beefcake, be sure to check out Volker Kahl's project Kattoo, it is a continuation of the Beefcake sound (more cinematic, less hard beats -- makes sense, since Gabor Schablitzki has gone off into minimal techno land...)

Wow,it's very strange to be the first to write here about this band.I guess few people have heard their music,yes the most of their albums are rare,but surely you can find their releases on the net.Beefcake is one of my best bands,and they don't have any similarity with other bands.I believe they are one of the most innovative names in electronica such as venetian snares,aphex twin and squarepusher.If you like these artists you will like Beefcake too!!!
