Reviews & Discussion

Review by larvikit Apr 16, 2003
The sound of BS in general: There's a kind off minimalism to his music, not too many elements at a time, which makes all details stand out. The music is deep and rather dirty sounding Progressive House, very much meant for the floor! Full of acidy soundscapes and haunting/mystic female samples (sometimes Middle Eastern sounding, for instance "Freaksound"). Often the music has a funky overtone in it's own progressive way.
Ben Shaw also records as Sunscape on Kubist and as/with Sunscape & Chris Dee on Kubist.
Look out for this guy in the future (he's still pretty young)!

One of my favourite producers at the moment. He has his own squelchy, driving sound, that obviously has big house influences, but there isn't anything quite like what he does. His first release on the magnificent Fire label, entitled "So Strong" is one of those tunes you've probably heard and loved, but you never knew who it was by. An absolutely fantastic tune, and something that should be remembered as a classic, but almost cer tainly won't. The follow-up, in my opinion, is even better. Featuring Tony Jackson on the vocals, it's as deep as they come, and the bass stabs are the icing on the exceedingly good cake. One to watch.
