So where is the Telephasic/Roygbiv 10" listing?

I absolutely believe they were beamed down from the heavens to make music for us. How else do you explain the fact they don't have one single bad song? Or that whenever I play Amo Bishop Roden right after Alpha and Omega the universe shrinks into my eyeballs and I see the future of every good thing.

After hearing BoC you have to think their style is in many ways the most original selection of ambient sounds and expression of feelings and ideas. If you listen to 84 Pontiac Dream on their last album you'll feel much closer to the environement existing in the 80's. Which is for me an exalting experience. Too bad they do not have all the merit they should hold. I only hope in the future we'll hear more from them in the mediatic world.

Whether they qualify as deities or mere mortals, beyond all doubt is the quality of their work. Brilliant, brilliant, electronica, coruscating sounds and haunting meoldies, listening to their music at the most unusual of times in the most unlikely of places can create a deeply warped view of your environment...for example, on a packed train full of pale-faced commuters, the music takes on a whole new meaning. Try it. I haven't taken shrooms and listened to their work as of yet, I've never felt the need to, but one day I will and I wonder how it will open my mind even more to the msuci of Boards of Canada.

I don't think that anyone in this thread feels that Boards of Canada were beamed down from heaven to save us, but I can understand the deep familiarity that people have with their music. People can't help but identify with their nostalgic melodies...

Like so many have mentioned before, Boards of Canada's music creates and conjours up strong images of childhood, of merry-go-rounds, of rainy winters, of peaceful autumn meadows, of beams of light piercing through floating clouds. There is no denying their musical genius, not many can claim to envoke the same sorts of emotion through sound. However, some of us do strive to achieve a similar goal.

Their music is truly unique... and I'm quite ashamed to admit it, but at certain moments in nearly all of their tracks, there is such a mixture of happiness and melancholy, I don't know whether to smile benevolently or let the moisture from my eye break free and fall to my cheek.

Like some say 'It's only music', but i'd like to admit that there may be something more to it... are we more than just the sum of our own parts... I'd like to think it's possible.

some of the comments people make about boards of canada are just so ridiculous, dont get me wrong i think their music is great, but seriously anyone would think they were beamed down from heaven to save us. its just music. everyone sounds like them now anyway. stop hunting for the early releases and buy something new.its precisely because they dont re-release the old stuff that people are so manic about it and them. if they re-released it everyone would stop frothing at the mouth over it and them and wouldn't go straight out and buy every release with even 1 remix of theirs on it. Some of the forums specifically about them are almost funny because people are so over the top about them. people say things like "boards of canada made me see that i was wasting my life. i first heard them in 1998 and had an immediate vision with faiies and pixies and little pretty fluffy things. i havent listened to anything else since and i know that if i could just meet them they would both want to marry me in some sort of bigamous electronica sect. and they would want me to bear their children, cos boards of canada have the right to children too...!!"

Slip on that karrimor branded jacket and go biking in the wild hills of the british isles, thats what this kind of music is best served with. Its a shame the duo are holding on to the old stuff, i remember 'trails' ...the song from their homepage as well as the decade-old 'point hope' which are great tunes that are impossible to get hold of now. Otherwise, great mysterious electronica that has its own unique sounds of nature, mumblings, breaks and crescendo's. So if your reading this BOC... keep it the good stuff, or release the old, please!

BOC is much as any other IDM group: nice music, but I wouldn't replace my Stockhausen records with them.

While I can consistently come back and hear new things in the pioneering electronic-music works of the classical fraternity, once you have heard BOC, AFX, etc you have essentially heard the entirety of their work - after all, it is MELODY-based music made to a certain formula with no attempt at trying to invent or research new frontiers in electro-acoustics, no matter how difficult to listen to, or understand, the end result may be.

Nice stuff, but it will not end up in the Cambridge Dictionary Of Music.

BOC remind me of how my childhood sounded in my head(hope that makes sense), i was brought up on the west coast of scotland and when i listen to certain tracks it makes me reminisce of going for walks on Irvine Beach and building Dams across Burns.

On "A kid for day" the weird "Curlew call" is like being on holiday in Argyleshire, getting up with my dad to go fishing,it makes the hairs on the back of my neck standup.

The synth sounds that are used so well remind me of old kids tv programmes like Think of a number, Tommorrows world and Dr.Who.anyone know what i mean????

Whats with this list business??? some people have a lot of the old releases but is there anyway copies gan be obtained or if BOC or warp etc read this get the material into the shops?

Its nice to see that a lot of likeminded people feel so passionately about BOC, best wishes to everyone.
