Reviews & Discussion

Review by Music_Archeologist Sep 26, 2009
Bone Awl is a lo-fi black metal with a heavy influence of punk style. The musics hardly go beyond three minutes, and if they go a little more, probably shall become boring. As raw black metal, Bone Awl can be a little mess, and take some time to find the way into their buzzing sound. The vocals are not intelligible at first glance, but a look in the lyrics will reveal the syllables screamed and well written songs. The lyrics almost tell about primitive features and his representation in actual human life as acts of violence and survival.

There is not much variation, but the guitars and vocals are really good. The bass is audible in most albums too, who gave to them a positive feedback and a rock'n'roll feeling that everyone likes. The drumming is the key here, keeping the punk tempo with a plenty of crashes. Bone Awl is simple, and in this simple way they keep his way to success. A unique way to play black metal.

Recommended to fans of: Akitsa, Ash Pool, Belketre, Armanenschaft, Black Stench (especially), Black Murder...

Recommended albums: Night is Indifferent, Not For Our Feet, Meaningless Leaning Mess.
